Initial Certification
Since March 1, 2006, installer and maintenance provider certification is mandatory for obtaining a license in Oregon. Chemeketa Community College, in collaboration with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, offers training and certification programs. To maintain certification, individuals must submit approved CEU completion proof and a fee to Chemeketa, which issues updated certification cards. Failure to re-certify within three years results in ineligibility for onsite system work. For class schedules and assistance, contact Chemeketa at email or (503) 399-5181.
NAWT Inspector Training
Whether you're a seasoned industry professional or just starting out, the National Association of Wastewater Technicians (NAWT) offers valuable inspections training courses. Upon successful completion, you'll receive a Certificate of Completion as an inspector from NAWT and be listed on a national registry of industry professionals for two years.
To renew your NAWT inspection certificate, visit the NAWT website for details. The Certificate of Completion is valid for two years from the training date. To renew, you need 8 hours (1 day) of training on onsite wastewater treatment system subjects, which can be submitted anytime within the two-year period, with renewal occurring on your anniversary date.
O2WA sponsors NAWT training in Oregon throughout the year. For questions, contact the office at [email protected].
